Outside of My Scrubs: Trying out Stripes

If you check out my IG (which if you haven’t 🤔🤔🤔…), you’ll notice a lack of stripes filling the profile. I’ve generally tried to avoid them for the common ideologies amongst my melanin people. “They widen you, especially that behind,” or, “Chile thems be an eyesore,” were my mom’s sayings running through my head when I saw this skirt on All Things Cherish (a black owned online clothing store!).

Luckily, I think I made the right decision with this purchase. I paired the skirt with a pop of red in this Hermes handbag just to distract the eye from the possible widening effect from the stripes in the skirt. I got so many compliments, I’m def going to be experimenting with stripes more often. What do you all think?
